What is it like to be an artist today?
As always for an artist: the alternation between the elation of creating a work of art and moments of despondency, doubts you have to fight to keep on. An Australian poet wroterightfully: “artists have the right to be modest and the duty to be conceited”.
How would you define your work in 5 words?
Metaphorical, dynamic, expressive, joyful, lasting.
What is the best tool to create a work of art? why?
The right-brain, where the emotions are.
What message do you wish to convey through your art?
My works always include a human person in an archetypal situation: together with other persons, or alone, in an attitude that reflects current events. My message: the human first and above all.
Which facet of your art are you presenting in this exhibition?
The one of a “press sculptor”. For FACES 2, I mostly show works that embody few months of current national and international news, rich and often heavily loaded with striking events: restriction of freedom of speech, a discarded economy, Humans trapped in the numeric web.
